Bloodworm – Blood and Lust – EP Review
by Killian Laher
From Nottingham in England, Bloodworm are a post-punk band making waves across the English Midlands, and they are releasing their debut EP.
It opens with Bloodlust (sensing a theme?), which has a post-punk style guitar riff and a singer with a husky, deep voice, which sounds a little like you’ve heard it all before, until you notice the soaring keyboard line behind it. The key track is probably the second one, Alone In Your Garden a slow, moody plod over a gorgeously foreboding bassline. The Crown has some nice, circular guitar lines on an ass-kicking track that culminates in a frenzy of guitars. The EP finishes with the relatively sparse Clairvoyance, another track that features a glorious guitar coda.
Less a blissed-out EP, more beautifully bummed-out. A full album from these guys will be worth looking out for. You’ll find their music here: https://bloodworm1.bandcamp.com/
