🙂 i don’t think I’d stand a chance. I was “on-the-fence” on this one to be honest – i like his stuff, but there is the trendiness…
I’m not sure you can blame him for being trendy. He just puts his music out there, and the reaction to it is what it is. There’s always a danger that you can react badly to someone just because they’re splashed all over magazines etc, with people calling them music’s savior.
I’d actually compare him to david gray – white ladder era. Pretty average music with bleep noises in background. I don’t dislike his music, but certainly don’t think he deserves much more than a passing nod.

Well, David Gray is persona non grata these days, but it’s a similar vibe. Quite traditional music, with a twist. Without the electronic wanderings, it’s pretty average soul music.
