Wellington Weekender – Workman’s Club – June 27 – 29, 2014

LISA-ONEILL

The Workman’s club have certainly pulled out all the stops for this mini festival, and the unusual thing is that it’s all free! I’m sure it’ll be jam packed, so get there early. I’ve wanted to see Girls Names for a while now, so maybe this is my chance. Full details are below…

Wellington Weekender at The Workman’s Club, June 27 – 29!
Gig times for all three nights will be 8pm / Market 1pm-6pm – Saturday June 28th

Friday 27 June Girls Names

Saturday 28 June Delorentos + guests

Sunday 29 June Lisa O’Neill + Mossy Nolan and Ain’t St John

A FREE THREE DAY FESTIVAL OF LIVE BANDS, DJS, MARKETS, FOOD & REFRESHMENTS!

Celebrations kick off on Friday from 8 bells and run straight through til late on Sunday. We’ve got a heap of the best live music performances over the weekend. On Friday night, we’ll have the awesome Belfast-based four-piece Girls Names lifting the roof off the place (Doors from 8pm).

On Saturday, why not come and check out our Roof Top Market, which opens at 1pm and runs until 6pm that evening. Our market will be filled to bursting with tapes and vinyl, books and magazines, vintage clothes, fresh baked treats and of course your favourite tipple! OnSaturday night, 28 June, we’ve got Choice Music Prize winners Delorentos taking to the stage to perform for YOU! Their critically acclaimed album Little Sparks won the Choice Music Prize last year and the band spent the year performing in Canada, the United States, Russia, Germany, France, Austria and Spain.

What of Sunday, you ask? The wonderful Lisa O’Neill will be bringing her tender and expressive voice to our venue, the kind of voice that would work on a Carter Family record just as well as it would on an avant-folk crank artefact. O’Neill has opened for David Gray on tour in America, signed a publishing deal with Domino Records, toured with Glen Hansard and worked with David Kitt and Karl Odlum on her brilliant record Same Cloth Or Not.

We’ll also have DJs galore, The Workman’s Karaoke Club, Sister Lisa Marie’s Guilty Pleasures and if you’ve a hankering for BBQ that just won’t quit then pop right into Bison Bar & BBQ right next door!
