Well, here wer are, back at this weeks ‘Things to do’ post, it’s like nothing ever happen, nothing happens at all, the needle returns to the start of the song and we all sing along like before. Yes, Del Amitri are in town this week, (see our gig guide below) along with the Tradfest kicking off in Temple Bar (our preview is here). Lots to do as ever…
Theatre
Colleen Bawn at the Gaiety is probably the big draw in town, with Druid coming to Dublin once more. There’s a version of The Brothers Karamazov in the Samuel Beckett theatre. There’s also previews of Pride and Prejudice has been extended (again) at the Gate.
The Abbey – Previews of The Risen People continues until Feb 1st.

Project Arts Centre – Preview of The Tender Thing start on the 23rd of Feb.
Smock Alley has Macbeth (until the 25th Jan) which is top notch. Our review is here.
Viking Theatre has a Break a Leg (Peter Sheridan) from the 22nd Jan until the 1st of Feb.
The New Theatre has the Tradfest from the 22nd to the 26th.
Samuel Beckett Theatre – The Brothers Karamazov from the 23rd to the 1st Feb. I’d recommend you check this one out, could be good!
The Gaiety Theatre has Druid’s Colleen Bawn from the 21st to the 25th.
The Civic Theatre has Tenderfoot this week, from the 23rd to the 25th.

Movies
Coen Brothers Season is in full flow at the Lighthouse with the O Brother, Where are thou? on the 22nd.
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll season is on at the IFI, with the first part Sex running this week, with Shame among others this week.
The Night of the Hunter is also at the IFI. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a must!
Up is at Brooks Private Cinema on 23rd of Jan, with tickets €10pp and include a popcorn and S. Pellegrino drink.
Gigs
This week, it’s all about the Tradfest, with a huge amount of gigs around the Temple Bar area. The best of the rest is probably the New Mendicants in Whelans on Friday the 24th. See their version of ‘Everything Flows’ below, not to be missed!
