While walking past the department of finance, on upper Merrion St, I noticed a poster above one of Eamon Gilmore. It was a picture of a harp with broken strings, with the ‘Due to unforeseen circumstances…’ message above it. They carry on down the full length of merrion square, with different images and poems.
They are the work of upstart.ie, a group with the aim to “encourage a debate on the role of the arts in this state. Our aim is to highlight the importance of creativity and ingenuity when society is in need of direction and solutions”. Their web site also has some music from Irish artists such as Jape and Simon Cullen.
Seems an interesting concept, and does fit with the general sense of disgust with Irish politics, which exists at the moment. You can check out all their posters on the web site above.
