Super groups are nearly always a bad idea. They rarely come to much, but I guess the travelling Wilbury’s were good in their day, right? Maybe I’m alone on that one. I also quite like Monsters of Folk, but again, possibly not as much as a solo album from M Ward or Conor Oberst.
Atoms for peace are the newest supergroup on the block, with ” Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar and piano); Flea (bass, melodica) of Red Hot Chili Peppers; longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich (guitar and keyboards); ” among others, according to Wikipedia.
Some kind of Wonderful is currently hosting one of their gigs, with downloads. A lot of it seems to be from Thom Yorke’s solo album, but still worth a listen.

Garbage were kind of a supergroup. I like them sometimes. Belly had a couple of moments. This Mortal Coil had a lot of good moments. But otherwise. 🙂
the whole supergroup thing is an odd chestnut. if members of one unknown indie band come together to form another, is it really a supergroup? A lot of them seem to be vehicles for famous producers more than band members. Think Mortal Coil was one of those, as was Garbage.
