Album of the Week – 07/07/23

Was it always going to be PJ Harvey this week? Yes, it was! It’s a reason for celebration, as this is PJ’s first album in seven years. Hopefully, you have all secured your tickets to see her in the 3Olympia later this year.

There’s also the chance to see what Jim O’Rourke is up to now! He’s just released the soundtrack to a film I know little about called Hands That Bind. Will Oldham is in it (the film, that is), so it’s worth watching out for.

Other albums worthy of your time and effort include Grouplove (I Want It All Right Now), Julie Byrne (The Greater Wings) and Local Natives (Time Will Wait for No One).  It’s been a long time since Local Natives released their debut Gorilla Manor in 2009! Where do the years go….

Album of the Week — PJ Harvey – I Inside the Old Year

“The songs are short and slight, but it works, in a similar way to Nick Cave’s Push The Sky Away. A summer soundtrack this is not, it’s for quiet nights in.” – Killian Laher – From our review here.
