TV Picks of the Week – 07/03/22

The most eagerly anticipated series revival since Will & Grace, No More Workhouse proudly presents the new and improved TV Picks of the Week (please hold your applause). Let us guide through the wonderful world of television, be it terrestrial or streaming. There are some doozies this week, so grab the remote and get ready to watch.

The Marvellous Mrs Maisel Amazon Prime, Friday’s.

Now in its penultimate season, The Marvellous Mrs Maisel is one of the best shows on television period. Following Midge Maisel, a housewife in the 1950s who is trying to make it as a stand-up comic in spite of the society she finds herself in. A multi-award winner, stuffed to the brim with excellent writing, directing, humour and a stellar cast; this show is a must watch!

If Beale Street Could Talk – BBC Four, Thursday at 9pm

From the academy award-winning director of Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk is a beautiful love story between Tish and Foni, childhood friends turned lovers. The story takes a dramatic turn when Foni is accused of a crime he claims he did not commit. It is up to Tish, who is pregnant with their child, to prove his innocence.

Peaky Blinders – BBC One, Sundays at 9pm

In its sixth and final series, BBC’s behemoth show is wrapping up the story of Thomas Shelby and the titular Peaky Blinders. Still reeling from the sudden passing of Helen McCroy, both the cast and the Shelby family are trying to tie up all the loose ends and bring what has been one of the most popular shows of the 21st century to a close.

Inventing Anna –  Netflix

The hot new thing of the Shondaland production line taking the world by storm, Inventing Anna is your new obsession. The show follows a journalist investigating Anna Delver, the daughter of a German multi-millionaire who is being charged with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from some of New York’s social elite. If she is the daughter of a very rich man then why is she stealing money? Is her whole Anna Delver character a lie? Watch on to find out.
