Another festival this weekend is the wonderful ‘Down with Jazz’ which takes place in Meeting House Square. The festival is in its 4th year, and is a chilled out affair that will no doubt gather the kool kids! Full details are here.
Gates open at 7pm, with first act on at 7:30pm each night, closing at midnight.
This is the 4th year of the festival, created as a tongue-in-cheek response to the anti-jazz crusade which took place in Ireland in the 1930s. More info HERE:
10 great acts over 2 nights in Meeting House Sq, playing jazz and experimental music, including established Irish jazz acts like Louis Stewart, Hugh Buckley and Dublin City Jazz Orchestra
And a younger, more experimental generation in math-rockers Leo Drezden, piano trio The CEO Experiment, hip-hop collective Mixtapes from the Underground, and exciting trad/hip-hop group Jiggy
