A powerhouse quintet of some of Dublin’s leading contemporary musicians, Rhythm Method launch their début album “By The Bye” on Thursday 20th November in Bello Bar, Dublin.

Formed in 2009 by guitarist Shane Latimer and bassist Cormac OBrien, Rhythm Method have developed an intuitive interaction in their playing, making the music sound effortless and expressive. O’Brien and drummer Shane O’Donovan are the nominal rhythm section in a band where everyone shoulders responsibility for the right groove – joined by pianist Darragh O’Kelly, guitarist Latimer and trumpeter Bill Blackmore.

The band strive to deliver a cohesive sound which explores the possibilities of minimalism, groove, free improvisation and odd meters, with a focus on lyricism and musicality over extended forms. The compositional duties are evenly distributed, reflecting the different creative personalities and presenting a sound sometimes reminiscent of Miles Davis’ in Silent Way and Bitches Brew with it’s rock influences, while elements of hip-hop, free and straight up contemporary jazz deliver a fresh and intriguing sound.

All five members are extremely active on the creative music scene in Ireland, being involved with projects such as Bottlenote Music, Rutland Place, O.K.O, Outer Spaceways Inc. and have played at a number of well known festivals such as Bray Jazz Festival, Down With Jazz and Electric Picnic. Collectively the members have toured extensively and have worked with every jazz artist worth mentioning in Ireland and many abroad too.
