The details of the New Year’s Festival have just been announced, and it seems to be on a much bigger scale than the last few. There are gigs and a variety of other events around the city, with events taking place in College Green, Dublin Castle, Wolfe Tone Square, Trinity College and more.

The biggest gig will be the Kodaline/ James Vincent McMorrow but there’s also smaller gigs featuring Le Galaxie and more. A lot of the events are free also, so you really have no excuse.

Love Dublin: Various Locations – 30 December & 31 December 2014

Discover the city with Love Dublin on the 30th and 31st December. Experience a host of cultural events across art, spoken word and live entertainment. Follow the NYF Arts Trail as Dublin’s galleries present new and established artists and feature special NYF guided tours, talks and pop up performances. They say the Irish have the gift of the gab; come experience the talent at the NYF Spoken Word Festival, which brings together the best of Irish wit, poetry slam, literature, with lively discussion and debate.


Luminosity: Dublin Castle, Wolfe Tone Square and Trinity College – 30 Dec 2014 to 1 Jan 2015

Prepare to be WOW’d as 3D light projections will bring to life the facades of some of Dublin’s most iconic buildings and statue – Dublin Castle, Wolfe Tone Square and Trinity College. Watch in wonder as Luminosity springs these buildings to life, telling they’re unique story with cutting edge 3D digital displays. The family friendly spectacle takes place daily from 5pm to midnight over 3 days.


NYF Food Village: Dublin Castle -30 December 2014 to 1 January 2015

The exquisite grounds of the iconic Dublin Castle will be transformed into the NYF Food Village over 3 days from 12noon until 7.30pm. Treat yourself to delicious artisan food and enjoy the stunning setting in Dublin Castle, as it becomes a hive of activity filled with free family-friendly entertainment plus performances in contemporary music and spoken word.
In the Making, the inaugural exhibition of Irish Design 2015, opens on December 30th in The Coach House, Dublin Castle, to coincide with Dublin’s New Year’s Eve Festival. In the Making is a touring exhibition organised by the Design Museum, London and curated by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.


NYF Music Trail: Various Locations -30 December & 31st December 2014

Experience Live performances across the city as bands, DJs, and Choirs play in a host of city centre venues as people gather from all over the world to countdown to 2015 in style.

Follow the trail which includes live performances from Le Galaxie at Meeting House Square, Rubyworks Sessions at Chapel Royale in Dublin Castle, the Dublin Gospel Choir at Christ Church and Live Music and DJ sessions across Dublin pubs and bars.

Some of the events are ticketed so make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment!

The Procession of Light: From Stephens Green to Dublin Castle – 31 December 2014

Be enchanted as some of Dublin’s most well loved streets erupt in a stunning procession with dazzling light installations, music and dance performers. The Procession of Light journeys from Stephens Green  to Dublin Castle lead by Luxe, Ireland’s leading specialists in visually stunning spectacles Journey with us towards 2015 and share a  magical Mini Midnight Moment with family and friends of all ages at Dublin Castle. Kicking off at 7pm, the Procession of Light is a fantastic free family-friendly event. The magic is unmissable.


NYF Countdown Concert: College Green – 31 December 2014

Ring in the New Year at the NYF Countdown Concert with headliners Kodaline with very special guest James Vincent McMorrow plus The Dublin Legends, Walking On Cars and The Whereabouts. Celebrate in the heart of the city at College Green from 8pm – 12.30am and be part of an unforgettable New Year’s Eve! Resolution Day: Dublin Castle, Phoenix Park, Dublin City Parks – 1 January

Get up, Get Out and Get Active! Kick off the New Year as you mean to go on, Resolution Day will bring you a host of free activities for all ages so you can start your year on the right foot. Join the New Year’s Day Fun Run starting at 12 noon from Dublin Castle. Join the fitness fun as green spaces and fitness clubs in the city are set to become a hub of activity with free exercise classes for everyone!
