We’re always a fan of guitar music here at the Workhorse, so having RM Hubbert in town is a bit of a treat. He’s also fallen in with some bad company over the years and recorded with Aidan Moffat on the gem below. Check it out, no seriously click below. It’s a bit special.
‘We all loved Gillian’
Thursday, September 18th
With special guests
We’re into another month of this year and we have a fantastic new show to announce! The flamenco guitar slinging RM Hubbert will be setting up shop in The Vintage Room at our home on Thursday, 18th September. Signed to legendary Scottish label Chemikal Underground and sharing a roster with the likes of Mogwai, Arab Strap and Adrian Crowley, RM’s notable blend of Spanish infused guitar with a post punk background have earned him the note of being one of Glasgow’s most fruitful artists.
Winning the Scottish Album of the Year Award 2013, fending off stiff competition from Django Django and The Twilight Sad brought RM to national mainstream media attention. Produced by his good friend Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand) it was praised for its intimacy about musician friends and more. Following up with this was “Breaks and Bone” which connects the past, the present and the future all into one separate 10 track album full of spellbinding melodies.
