Best summer album 2013. And it’s 19 years old. Digable Planets – Blowout Comb (1994). Reissue.

Summer is here and NMWH has the album for the season. It’s the reissue of Digable Planets’ Blowout Comb from 1994. The trio was based in NYC and the members were Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler, Mary Ann “Ladybug Mecca” Vieira and Craig “Doodlebug” Irving. This was only the group’s second album and they split shortly after its release.

It’s incredible to think that in 1994 the Beasties released Ill Communication, Nas released Illmatic and Digable Planets released this gem of a hip-hop record. Put it on, sit back and let it wash over you. Wonderful stuff. Check out the first track The May 4th Movement below.
