Right, so I’m ignoring every Christmas market, in case you’re wondering! They’re out there and hard to miss, so go enjoy if that’s your scene. Otherwise, The Dead starts (officially) at the Abbey, and Jezebel
Art – Eithne Jordan’s new exhibition ‘Street’ continues at the RHA with some familiar streets in Dublin featured! John Beattie’s video pieces continue in the same venue. Alice Maher‘s show at IMMA (Earlsfort Terrace) is really impressive, and the Sidney Nolan exhibition is at the other IMMA; Kilmainham. Tribal Textiles from Iran continues in the Douglas Hyde.
Theatre – Previews of The Dead finish today and it opens tomorrow at the Abbey. Expect a review here soon. Quietly is at the peacock, and is meant to be worth seeing. Cousin Rachel is at the Gate for the Christmas! Jezebel by Rough Magic runs until the 22nd in the Project cube. Blood Ties is at the New Theatre until the 15th.
Movies – A season of Christmas movies starts at the Lighthouse. Black Christmas is on Saturday (Genius!). Bad Santa is on tomorrow. There’s also an unusual Hitchcock season at the IFI, with some of his lesser know movies. Murder! and the Paradine Case are on next weekend. Gremlins is on tomorrow at the Sugar Club!
Gigs – A few good ones this week, with Duke Special and Beth Orton in the Peppercanister Church, Boris, John Talabot, Grant Hart (the other guy in Husker Du!), among others. Full gig guide is below.
