We are on post Halloween hang over, with an end to the horrorthon and Bram Stoker festival. Strange considering that Halloween is on Wednesday! Still a few good bits knocking around out there…
Art –Alice Maher‘s show at IMMA (Earlsfort Terrace) is really impressive, especially some of the video peices, and is well worth checking out. Some amazing visuals, and lots of echos of horror movies so perfect for this time of year! The Sidney Nolan exhibition starts at IMMA proper. Merlin James is at the Kerlin. Sean McSweeny is at the Taylor Gallery.
Theatre – Dorian Gray and Shibari (in its last week) continue at the Abbey, and the Gate has The last Summer. Not while there’s work to be done is at the New Theatre.
Movies – The Shinning has been touched up and re-issued this week, and will be in lots of places on Halloween night! There’s also Film Fatale showing ‘The Apartment’ which is a wonderful Jack Lemon movie of dubious morals.
Gigs – this week are a bit less impressive than the last one. The Walkmen and the Wedding Present would be my highlight!
