While it’s not actually Halloween until sometime next week (Wednesday), as this is the weekend before, we get all the good shit! Cool huh? Well, maybe we’ll regret it next week, but there’s a lot going on this one.
It’s also a great week for gigs, but that’s just a coincidence… or is it? Hmm, musicians and the dark arts.
There’s also an unofficial comedy festival, as we’re getting a good few from the official comedy festival in Galway. Tim Key in the Project Arts Centre on Friday and Saturday could be good, and also Neil Hamburger, Foils, Arms and Hog,
Theatre – Small offerings I’m afraid, with Dorian Gray and Shibari continue at the Abbey, and the Gate has The last Summer. Bound is at the New Theatre.
Art – I went to Alice Maher‘s show at IMMA, and it’s really impressive. Some amazing visuals, and lots of echos of horror movies so perfect for this time of year! It’s the last week for Clare Carpenters at the Cross Gallery, Keith Wilson at the Oliver Sears and the RHA’s ‘Future’s 12′ . Merlin James is at the Kerlin. Sean McSweeny is at the Taylor Gallery.
Movies – This is the week of the horrorthons with events at the Light House (Fright House) and on a much bigger scale, the IFI’s Horrorthon (which I’ll have a look at later in the week, for a few tips!).
Gigs – If I had to pick just three… The Unthanks, Tallest Man and maybe the legend that is Neil Hamburger.
