I hope everyone got out to see Cracked Lights production of ‘The Tempest’ in Iveagh Gardens. It was our top tip from last week, and thankfully the weather was generally to Prospero and the boys!
This week sees more Shakespeare and a variety of other junk to keep you happy otherwise.
Music – Josh T Pearson in Whelans on Friday is probably the best of the bunch, for his beard alone, but there’s also The Japandroids (Workmans Club on Thursday) and Childish Gambino (Academy on Friday) among others (Sawdoctors, Jack L, Thin Lizzy etc). The Pale are in Tower records on Friday at 6, if you can remember them first time around, you’ll be tempted!
Theatre – AC Productions version of ‘Much Ado about Nothing’ starts tomorrow in the Project, and looks like it could be worth a visit. The setting is transposed to 1960′ s Italy, and all that comes with it. There’s even a deal for tickets on Thursday, with all tickets for €10.
Film – The stranger than fiction festival is on at the IFI, which I’ll have a look at in more detail later in the week (hopefully). The Film Noir season kicks off at the Lighthouse also, with Gilda on Wednesday.
Art – Helen Comerford’s exhibition ‘Alpha to Omega’ starts this Thursday in the Taylor gallery, and looks nice and swirly! Undertones group show continues at the Rubicon (until the 25th of August)
Events – The Dublin Horse Show is not my scene, but I know my niece has been excited about it for weeks, so each to their own!
The Kilkenny arts festival continues, and I really must get down to it this weekend.
