It is conclusive evidence, and cannot be argued with in any way shape or form, Irish bands are lazy! When they should be off selling their wares in foreign countries, they all just ‘happen’ to be at home, on the night of the March 8th, and will be at the award ceremony. I think this is the first time it’s actually happened, and must have confused the promoters a bit, when they realised they’d have 10 bands on stage.
It’ll be an impressive enough show with:
And So I Watch You From Afar, Bell X1, Cashier No 9, Lisa Hannigan, The Japanese Popstars, Jape, Patrick Kelleher & His Cold Dead Hands, Pugwash, Tieranniesaur and We Cut Corners.
Last year I was up in arms that the Villagers didn’t scoop the prize (mostly as I put a tenner on them!), but this year, I don’t really mind who does, although I do have a soft spot for Pugwash and possibly We Cut Corners. Tickets for the show in the Olympia are 22.50.
