Avey Tare is one of the Animal Collective, and his solo music is pretty similar to his day job. This is his latest single ‘Oliver Twist’. His latest video is a weird and wonderful animated tale.
Girls are a two piece band from San Francisco, who’s new album ‘Father, Son, Holy Ghost’ is making waves in all the right publications. Vomit is their latest single off the album. See what you think…

No More Workhorse 
I’m a big Girls fan and I included their last EP, Broken Dreams Club, in my NoMoreWorkHorse Best of 2010 so it’s nice to see them in the first Song Wars! So this one is easy for me 🙂
I think the Girls may have won the first Song Wars! The Avey video is probably better though, even if the song isn’t. Hmm…
I was thinking that – perhaps we need to be clear on the premise – i.e. it’s the song we’re judging not the video and not the combination of song + video… hmmm 🙂
I was kind of leaving that open to viewer interpretation. Although i would say that Sledgehammer is the perfect combination of both song and video, and all others are inferior.
Seems Adam and Paul have rights to the ‘Songwar’ name also! Do you think they’d mind?
