The Illuminated Mixtapes

Some lovingly created playlists with illustrated covers for each. Definitely worth checking out.

  1. my first thought was that surely he would have finished series 2 and 3 before series 4 but i guess he is more interested in the adagio, moderato etc element which is pretty cool.

  2. Thanks for the mention and the kind words!

The way the numbering system works (in my head, at least), is that there are 4 series of mixes that I add to concurrently. Each series is loosely grouped based on the approximate tempo of the music on the mixes (series 1 is the slowest/mellowest, series 4 is the fastest/most rocking). The editions of each series come in order—so 1.1 is the oldest in series 1, 4.4 is the newest in series 4, etc.

Anyway, listen and enjoy, and just know that if you want something mellow, look in the 1s and if you want something to get you through a slow afternoon at work, look in the 4s. But really, it’s all just arbitrary numbers.

  3. Cheers Adam, great to have you on the blog. Have you any more mixtapes in the pipeline or is this the end of the series? Also, I really like your disclaimer on your site:

“These playlists are posted with the utmost respect for the music and the people who make it. If you believe in good faith your rights are being infringed upon, you (or your agent) can contact me requesting that the links to the material be removed.”

Have you ever been asked to take a song down?

  4. There are definitely more on the way. I have 2 more ready to go right now, just need to find the time to draw the covers and post them. And I have no plans to stop after that.

I’ve never been asked to take anything down, but the site hasn’t been up that long. For most of their lives, the mixtapes have been shared the old fashioned way. Also, full disclosure is that the disclaimer was very much influenced by designers.mx. Those guys were also a big inspiration in finally putting everything online, too.

    • Great stuff Adam. That other site looks really interesting also (designers.mx). Let us know when you have more mixes up!

      Cheers, J.
