For our 100th post (yes, where does the time go!), we’re dealing with a man that is half crazy professor, half kid’s entertainer. His gigs are the stuff of legends, and mostly due to the kid’s party games he plays at them. I was at the human tunnel gig below, and it was lots of fun. If you’re interested in how it works, have a look at the link below, but it was nice to be on Trinity street playing kids games at 1 in the morning on a Thursday evening! We got great looks from the Taxi drivers and other passers by.
He’s a singer and electronic composer from New York, but best associated with the Baltimore scene, and is the originator of the Wham City music and art collective, with bands such as Future Islands. His 2007 album ‘Spiderman of the Rings’ is a good place to start, and ended up on all the best of year lists with the trendy journalists types.
His 2009 album Bromst also includes the song ‘Paddling Ghost’ which has the lovely video below, featuring a world of puppets. I’ve even heard of one kindergarten teacher, teaching her kids the lyrics to Wham City (also below), so its certainly good for kids.
