Album of the Week – 29/05/26

There is a smorgasbord of new albums this week, with the likes of Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts (A live album called as time explodes), Guided By Voices (Crawlspace Of The Pantheon). There’s a new release from Violet Grohl (Be Sweet to Me), and yes, she’s the daughter of Dave. Kurt Vile expands on his love of a city: Philadelphia’s been good to me.

The living legend that is Paul McCartney returns with The Boys of Dungeon Lane. There’s a lot of talk about the frailty of his voice, but at least he hasn’t modified it.

For our Album of the Week, we couldn’t resist the return of Boards of Canada. There’s a lot to explore in this one, as it’s quite a change, within their own unusual niche. You can check it out below…

Album of the Week — Boards of Canada – Inferno

After thirteen years of silence from the compound, during which anticipation has grown day by day, Boards of Canada finally return. Inferno retains their signature melodies and atmospheres, drawing on the esoteric influences explored in Societas X Tape (their 2019 NTS mix for Warp Records’ 30th anniversary) and the darker ambience introduced on Tomorrow’s Harvest, further deepened by an expanded role for speech soundbites.
