2024 Look Ahead – Music

2024 Look Ahead – Music
by Killian Laher

It’s time to look forward to albums and the like for 2024!  If J Mascis is a**ed, we should see a new solo album on 2nd February, What Do We Do Now.  He’s already shared a couple of tunes off it, here’s one of them:

Shaping up to be a big year for The Jesus and Mary Chain with their first album since 2017, the experimental and electronic Glasgow Eyes due on 8th March

Seemingly, there’s also an autobiography, Never Understand written with Ben Thompson, due in August. However, how two brothers who make the Gallaghers look like best mates can put pen to something like this is anyone’s guess!

On the Irish front, Chequerboard will release Souvenir on 8th Mar, while on the same day, Marry Waterson & Adrian Crowley will release Cuckoo Storm

Elbow are due a new album in March, while Chris Hooson has reactivated Dakota Suite to team up with Quentin Sirjacq for Forever Breathes The Lonely Word, which may or may not be a Felt reference.  We’ll find out in April.  Arab Strap have an album due in May while The Apartments’ album That’s What The Music Is For should also emerge.

The Lemonheads released a new single a month ago and are apparently working on an album, along with Evan Dando’s autobiography Rumours of My Demise.

We may also get new albums from RM Hubbert, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds  Dirty Three, Jeff Tweedy and Pearl Jam.

Those waiting for The Cure, Morrissey or My Bloody Valentine would be advised not to hold their breath.
