Album of the Week – 27/01/23

If January is the longest month, it did fairly whizz by! Yes, we’re in the last week of January, and the tunes continue coming at you.

This week, we have new sounds from Wolf Eyes, Fucked Up and of course Heavy Blanket (J Mascis is involved, just in case you haven’t heard of them before). Complete Mountain Almanac features the talents of Bryce and Aaron Dessner and sounds quite relaxed and lovely. King Tuff is also worth checking out, with his new release Smalltown Stardust on Sub Pop.

R.Ring is Kelley Deal and Mike Montgomery. It is voices, guitars and keys. It is sparse, chaotic, abrasive and lulling, often within the same song. It is a celebration of and departure from the music they make in their other bands; Kelley with the Breeders and Mike with Ampline. Kelley lives in Dayton, OH. Mike lives in Dayton, KY.
