New Music – Sweet Baboo – Good Luck

Way, way back in 2017, we reviewed his album Wild Imagination. Now, he’s back with something sounding all fresh and new! Stephen Black AKA Sweet Baboo returns with the first single ‘Good Luck’ off his new album The Wreckage.

Very, very pleased to let you know that Sweet Baboo, also known as Stephen Black, musical polymath and maker of an already wonderful collection of six studio albums, is announcing his return! With the release of a new single, Good Luck on Wed 5 October 2023, Black also announces, The Wreckage, his first album in five years and extensive UK tour dates.

The single is written by fellow, brilliant Welsh singer-songwriter H Hawkline, with Black asking him to write some lyrics but coming back with what he considers to be one of the strongest tracks on the album. As with previous Sweet Baboo albums, not least 2013’s iconic indie ‘hit’ and Moshi Moshi debut, ‘Ships’, his new music is full of world-weary whimsy and feint hope, making for an effortlessly charming listen. The Wreckage will be the first, full-length solo Sweet Baboo release on his own Amazing Tapes From Canton label.
