Bohemian Environmental Justice Film Festival (BEFF)
by Killian Laher
Football and cinema have often been uncomfortable bedfellows. Far too much Bend It Like Beckham and Goal and not enough Damned United, until now that is. League of Ireland club Bohemians, based in north Dublin are hosting an outdoor, environmental justice film festival in September at their iconic stadium Dalymount Park. The festival, sponsored by Oatly and enabled by event company Happenings, takes place from September 8th – 11th, and will feature Irish and international films.
The event is part of the Bohemian Way, a creative climate action project funded by Climate Ireland. Details of the films will be announced soon on www.beff.ie but they’re sure to have an environmental and sporting theme.
In addition, Bohemian Football Club will welcome football clubs from around Europe to the film festival as a new climate justice project gets underway. Bohemian FC worked with the European Football for Development network to develop the Erasmus+Sport project, which also includes Real Betis (Spain), FC Twente (the Netherlands), Ferencvárosi FC (Hungary), Werder Bremen and St Pauli (Germany), Randers FC (Denmark), the Spanish football association La Liga and the Irish think tank TASC.
