Slow Meadow – Upstream Dream – EP Review

Slow Meadow – Upstream Dream – EP Review
by Killian Laher

Slow Meadow are making some of the most gorgeous instrumental music around.  The opening track Adorned In Ribbons has a striking piano motif running through it, and faint snatches of horns here and there.  A Light Without Flame pushes the electronics to the foreground, combining well with a lone violin.  Brass is prominent in Tethered to the Earth with strings, and soft ambient drones that gradually envelope you.  Later, there is twinkling piano on A Tiny Ripple That Becomes A Giant Wave, and strings on Tragedy of the Commons that can only be described as bloody lovely.  File under relaxing.
