Chris Ledwidge – Summer | Electronics – Review
by Killian Laher

Irish composer Chris Ledwidge returns with the latest in his series of EPs for each season.  It opens with the piano and string bliss of No. 20 In Cm, which doesn’t sound particularly summery, but is pretty good stuff nonetheless.  More chilly electronica follows with No. 18 in Em and No. 31 in C.  A complete sea change for what remains with the pulsing dance beats that introduce No. 35 in Am.  This one is more realised and fuller than the relatively sparse fare that came before.

It ends in somewhat downbeat fashion on No. 24 in Cm which is probably the highlight, a very immersive and fully realised piece.  Though not as cohesive as Spring, it shows signs of promise.  It would be interesting to see what Ledwidge can do across an album.  It is available here.
