So, will Kanye West actually release Donda this week? The real question should be will it be any good and the answer is probably ‘not really’. He is good at generating hype though, so we’ll let him at it.
In the land of normal humans, we have new releases from artists that we enjoy such as Homeboy Sandman (Anjelitu EP) and Sparks (Annette: Cannes Selections – Music from the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). There is also a fairly fabulous new release from Liars (The Apple Drop). You can read a fairly glowing review from Killian Laher here.
Back in the days when people went to gigs, I must have seen Willy Mason play live about 100 times (a mild exaggeration only). He never failed to create a good vibe in a room simply stuffed with people. I hope to see him live again soon! In the meantime… I have this to keep me happy!
Album of the Week – Willy Mason – Already Dead
Magic, miracles, ghosts, world leaders; these days it seems there is little left to believe in. Lies outweigh truth and even truth can be dangerous. Raising everyone’s spirits Already Dead –the fourth album and the first for nine years from Willy Mason -explores honesty and deception, anonymity in the digital age, good intentions with unexpected consequences, freedom, colonialism, love, god, and purpose because, its storyteller says, now is the time to restore some much-needed faith.
