Cigarettes After Sex – Cry – Album Review
by Killian Laher
The second album from Cigarettes After Sex sticks very closely to the sound of the first. It’s basically zonked-out indie slow-dance music with Greg Gonzalez on child-like vocals. There’s little point in isolating individual tracks, Each song drifts into each other, equal parts blissed-out synth-driven ecstasy and blurry snooze-fest. The songs set their stall out within the first 2 to 3 bars and don’t vary, making this a model of consistency with a dash of monotony. Probably one for sensitive souls to dive into.
