Carlow Arts Festival 2019 – June 4th – 9th – Preview

This is the 40th Anniversary of the Festival with over 80% of the events free to attend. In order to see precisely what’s what visit www.CarlowArtsFestival.com. There is a mass of family fun events on 8th and 9th June centred on Festival Headquarters at Carlow College, St. Patrick’s.
There is music which includes Max Richter’s eight hour epic ‘Sleep‘ (now sold out). Irish National Opera will perform a free opera outdoor performance of arias, duets and ensembles on Sunday 9th June with Galway Street Club on Saturday 8th busking at the Fairgreen Shopping Centre. There is digital and virtual reality with a Virtual Reality Film Festival on the Saturday and the Sunday.
Crave is an interactive piece of performance art, PIG will be at various locations throughout the festival and Our Carnal Hearts is about desire, competition and how we screw each other over is on 7th June at Visual. There are various dance events including Compagnie Kairos from the Netherlands and in the visual arts the ARTWORKS 2019 opens on the 4th and will feature works from the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
The Borris Festival of Writing and Ideas runs this weekend also!
