Documentary – The Vietnam War
Monday 25 September, 11.35pm, RTE1
Ambitious documentary series that took 10 years to make and comes in 10 instalments. Directors Ken Burns and Lynn Novick interviewed more than 100 witnesses and also use archival footage to bring the definitive story of the Vietnam War to the screen.
Documentary – Russia with Simon Reeve
Thursday 28 September, 9pm, BBC2
One of the best travel documentary makers returns with this three part focus on Russia. Beginning his travels 100 years after the Russian Revolution, Reeve starts in one of the remotest areas of the country – Kamchatka, which is more than 4,000 miles from Moscow, in the far east. He also visits Vladivostok, where a newly built casino is attracting interest and visitors from neighbouring China.
Entertainment – The Graham Norton Show
Friday 29 September, 10.35pm, BBC1
The hugely successful Friday night talk show is back after its summer break and joining Graham on the couch this week are Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling promoting Blade Runner 2049 and Margot Robbie and Reese Witherspoon talking about their latest films. Will be interesting to see how the usually taciturn Ford takes to the very spontaneous and fun atmosphere in the studio!
