Baio is the bass player with Vampire Weekend, and this is his first single off his debut album after having released a series of EPs. You can see the results below, they’re quite surprising…

New York, NY – May 26, 2015 – Baio announces his first full-length album, The Names, available for pre-order, out September 18th via Glassnote Records.  The record takes it title from Don Delillo’s 1982 novel.

Of the album, Baio said, “The Names is a record that has reverberated through my mind for much of the last five years. Its themes began to take shape when I moved from New York to London in 2013. Today I’m delighted to share the first track of a record that I think is pretty tight!”

The Names, produced by Baio, explores ideas of space — of belonging, identity and finding a place in the world. Some of this was occasioned by his own geographical shift — having recently moved to London, he found himself struck by his new city’s expanse of sky, green space, and globalness — elements that infuse the record’s sound.
