I would be one of those that argue that the Charlatans have at least as good a back catalogue as the Stone Roses. I guess it never hurts to create an air of mystery about yourself, and leaving one classic album behind is possibly the way to do it. The Charlatans took the other approach, and have been releasing a new album every few years since 1990, and their latest release Modern Nature is actually their 12th. It’s their first in five years, and is receiving pretty positive reviews. You can see them at the Academy in a few months time!
