Calling all frustrated film makers out there, now is your chance to shine! Taking place in the Fumbally exchange this weekend (Jan 24th and 25th), there is 48 hours of madness as you pitch your idea for a short film, then cast and complete the project, and all in time for a screening in Sweeney’s on Sunday. Sound fun? Full details are below and you can buy tickets here.
If you can’t make the event, check out the results which will be screened at 8pm Sunday 25th downstairs in Sweeney’s on Dame Street.
About
Got an idea for a short film 6 minutes or under? Make it with KinoD this January!
A Kino Kabaret is a place where you can pitch an idea for a film that you will then cast, crew, shoot, edit and screen, all in the space of 48 hours. Or, if you’re an actor, DOP, sound recordist, editor, makeup artist or you can contribute in others ways, you can attach yourself to someone else’s idea.
Production Meeting
From 8am on Saturday morning we will be registering participants.
From 9am the introductions commence. This is where you introduce yourself to the group and tell us whether you want to pitch an idea for a film, or if you want to join in on a project. This is also where you declare what equipment you’ve brought.
At 10am sharp the pitching session begins. If you have an idea for a film this is where you tell everybody the name and the length of it, as well as a list of things you need, whether it be actors, a camera, props, a location, or whatever.
The Rest of the Weekend
Once the pitching session concludes you start getting your crew together if you’re directing. Otherwise, you attach yourself to as many projects as you can realistically help with over the two days. As Kino Kabarets are non-competitive there’s no reason not to latch on to somebody else’s film if you think you can help.
The Kinolab will be open from Saturday morning until the screening on Sunday night. It’s always there for you if you need a hand or a place to hang out. The Kinolab is located in the centre of Dublin, so the city will be your film set for the weekend.
If at any point during the weekend, you happen to have an idea for a quickie (a ninety second film) but didn’t pitch it at the pitching session, go ahead and make it and we’ll screen it on Sunday night.
Price – Registration for KinoD’s Blue Kabaret 2015 will be €15 for the whole weekend.
Entry to the screening on Sunday will be free for participants. General admission for the screening will be €5.
Date – 24th – 25th January
The event costs €15 and as a non-profit organisation, every penny we earn goes back into running our events. All the information about the event and ticket purchase is available on our eventbrite page:
