Don’t even think of going to a new release movie this week, without checking out JDIFF. They need your love, care and support until the end! It runs until Sunday.
Strangers by the Lake – Do you shock easy? Well, if the answer is yes, this isn’t the one for you! Expect plenty of male nudity and (ahem) interaction that the Iona Institute would not condone. They critics are mostly raving about it though. “Summertime. A cruising spot for men, tucked away on the shores of a lake. Franck falls in love with Michel. An attractive, potent and lethally dangerous man. Franck knows this, but wants to live out his passion anyway.”

Only Lovers Left Alive – This one owes more than a jot to Whitnail & I. It’s the story of Vampires who are basically just stoner musicians in Detroit and Morocco. It’s very slow, beautifully shot and everything you don’t expect from a Vampire movie. “A story centered on two vampires who have been in love for centuries”.

A New York Winter’s Tail – Who told Colin Farrell that this would be a good career move? Honest to God, the guy needs a break, or at least needs to be in a decent movie at some point. “A burglar falls for an heiress as she dies in his arms. When he learns that he has the gift of reincarnation, he sets out to save her.”
Stalingrad – I was expecting more from this one, but the reviews, they ain’t so good. “A band of Russian soldiers fight to hold a strategic building in their devastated city against a ruthless German army, and in the process become deeply connected to two Russian women who have been living there.”
The Invisible Woman – Ralph is back in town. Go Ralph, go Ralph… “At the height of his career, Charles Dickens meets a younger woman who becomes his secret lover until his death.”
