Something a bit special, a lovely song and a nicely bizarre video to go along with it! Details below. Enjoy!
We are excited to announce the release of the official Sound of Horns music video, a collaboration between Irish singer-songwriter Candice Gordon and award-winning Irish director/animator Conor Finnegan.
The hyper psychedelic video depicts a surreal odyssey of the main protagonist – a fleshy pink a-sexual creature. Finnegan manages to create a vision of a world as colourful and cute as it is unsettling and eerie, which perfectly suits the jaunty yet creepy sound of Gordon’s brass-imbued fable.
Sound of Horns is Gordon’s second single from her debut EP Before the Sunset Ends, produced by Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan and released last summer to critical acclaim. (“the greatest song never to feature on the Twin Peaks soundtrack…9/10” Hotpress). Her music has found it’s place in the dark end of the indie spectrum, somewhere between Patti Smith and Nick Cave, although the EP has elements of folktales and even texmex, as she describes its sound as “Ennio Morricone meets the Brothers Grimm”.
