Liz-Gilbert-300x375

Even if you don’t know who Elizabeth Gilbert is, you’ll know Eat, Pray, Love, which was published in 2006 sold over ten million copies worldwide and was made into an awful film starring Julia Roberts. Still, we won’t blame Elizabrth for the Julia Roberts movie. Her new book ‘The Signature of All Things’ is published this month and there’s a chance to hear her talk in conversation with Sinead Gleeson this Wednesday (23rd of Oct at 7.30) at Liberty Hall. Tickets are €10/ 12. You can find details here.

Check out her excellent Ted Talk below for an idea of what you’ll get and the origins of Ireland football team’s Ole chant. A little piece of God in Robbie Keane’s boots. I kid you not. She seems a fast talking and extremely intelligent person.

Acclaimed author, Elizabeth Gilbert of five books of fiction and non-fiction makes a special appearance at the Dublin Writers Festival. Her bestseller Eat, Pray, Love, which was published in 2006 sold over ten million copies worldwide and was made into a film starring Julia Roberts. Gilbert’s latest novel, The Signature of All Things is published in October. This her first novel in twelve years and is an extraordinary story of botany, exploration and desire, spanning across much of the 19th century. Peopled with extraordinary characters – missionaries, abolitionists, adventurers, astronomers, sea captains, geniuses and the quite mad –above all it has an unforgettable heroine in Alma Whittaker, a woman of the Enlightened Age who stands defiantly on the cusp of the modern age.
