Yes, indeedy, a couple of very exciting gigs on the horizon. Pere Ubu is David Thomas and a variety of other musicians, and they’ll be in the Village next month. I’ve never managed to see him/ them live, so I’m quite excited about this one. They band have been on the go since the 70’s, so it says something for his staying power. Frank Black of the Pixies names him as one of his key influences, and there’s more than a touch of similarity in their singing style. Another fascinating one is Neutral Milk Hotel who have reformed for a series of gigs, and will play Vicar Street in May of next year.
The Village seems to be back as a venue in Dublin, with a few good gigs having been announced in recent times. It’s a nice enough venue, so it’s good to see it back.
