One of the finest gigs I was at, in the sadly departed Tripod was the Clap your hands show in February of 2007, where the whole venue bounced under their perfect indie pop tunes, and at times made me question the structural integrity of the structure. On that night, there was little doubt in my mind that they’d go on to be one of the main stays of the indie scene for years to come, yet, for whatever reason, it never happened.
Main man Alec Ounsworth dabbled with a solo career, and even with other bands before returning with the last Clap Your Hands album ‘Hysterical’ in 2011, which never really captured my imagination. Since then, the band has reduced in size to two members, Alec and Sean Greenhalgh on drums, and the results can be found below. It sounds a lot more electronic than what has gone before, but there are hints that the album could be worth waiting for!
