Movies – 03/05/13 – The Gatekeepers, I’m so Excited etc.

Another week at the movies, and it could possibly be described as a slow one, but maybe we’re all just recovering form the hype of Iron Man last week!

The big release of the week is a documentary about the Shin, who are the intelligence agency charged with defending Israel against terrorism. Well, when I say the big release, it’s the one getting the attention of the critics, but I think Iron Man’s spot top of the charts is safe enough for another week! The Gatekeepers is not everyone’s cup of tea, but is definitely worth seeing.

Sadly, Almodovar has gone off the boil a little. His last movie, ‘The Skin I’m in’ was just plain odd, his latest effort ‘I’m So Excited‘ looks camp and fun, but very light hearted. Still, I’m sure there’s something of interest in it, as he’s one of the best directors around.

Colin Farrell must be in last chance saloon when it comes to his leading man status. He needs a big hit, but sadly I don’t think this is going to be the one! Dead Man Down stars Colin, Noomi Rapace and Terrence Howard and is about revenge/ crime capers. It’s from the director of the original ‘Girl with a Dragon Tattoo’ movie Niels Arden Oplev.

All Stars is a movie about kids saving a teen refuge that’s getting poor reviews.

The other new releases are Chimpanzee – a documentary about…. go on, guess. It’s a Disney nature movie that allows you to ‘witness the incredible true story of an orphan…’ ugh.

21 and over looks truly awful and the critics hated it, but they would, as it’s only meant for teens. Who knows. Not for me..
