Trinity college is going all Shakey this summer, with a festival of his work that will include up to 500 performers and take place in 50 venues around the city. A lot are out doors, so it’s all a bit weather dependent (and I think a lot of it clashes with the Euro 2012, but I guess the two are mutually exclusive?).
You can get all the details here, with most of the performances being free. There are a number of paid events, such as the Indian Tempest by Footsbarn.
Check out the promo video here. It is truly shocking!
“…The largest Shakespeare Festival ever to take place in Ireland. With an anticipated 500 performers, both professional and amateur, taking part in over 50 outdoor performances of Shakespeare’s work, once again the streets of Dublin are set to be brought to life, bringing the greatest playwright of all time out of classrooms and libraries and into some of Dublin’s most beautiful locations.”
