ATP Homework – Friday

Only hours remain until ATP’s Nightmare before Christmas, so I’m hitting the books hard! A lot to get through in very little time. Lets see, who do I know nothing about that I really should. I’ll start with Friday. Les Savy are the ones in charge, so I’m pretty sure what we’re going to get.

Let’s start with Archers of the Loaf: American Indie band, formed in 1990, from North Carolina, they released four albums between 93 and 98 and then broke up. This is their reunion tour! I’d say they’ll be good live, nice and shouty!

Holy Fuck… Ok, know them, and might even have given them my gig of the year last year. Four piece from Toronto that are described as electronica, but certainly used lots of guitars when I saw them! They also have lots of toys, which was the fun part. Best to be down the front for them.

Hot Snakes, another reformed band! They’re a hard core band from San Diego. One of the main guys (John Reis) went on to form Rocket from the Crypt!

No Age, American two piece and more than a bit shouty, possibly not in a good way. I think I saw them at ATP before, and then went to the other stage.

White Flag have about 11 albums, which is a bit shocking! Punk band from Los Angeles. Not bad actually.

Future Island, saw these guys before and loved them! Part of that whole Baltimore scene, with a fun front man.

I guess Friday could be summed us as shouty! I think it’s a pity that Friday isn’t Saturday, as Les Savy are sure to be the best band at it, unless someone else turns up that surprises me…
