Phil Carney was in Red House Painters between 95 and 2001 and later played with Sun Kil Moon. He’s recently started to record under the name Desertshore along with pianist Chris Connolly, and released their first full album ‘Drifting your majesty’ in 2010, which does sound reminiscent of dreamy Red House instrumental songs.
Their new album ‘Drawing of Threes’ features a certain Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon) on 6 of the 10 tracks, and is also released by Mark’s caldo verde record label. Definitely worth checking out.
You can hear two tracks (Mercy and Diana) from their new album here. There’s also a few from their first album and both sound lovely!
