Not a stellar week for the movies in truth, maybe it’s time to stay at home with an improving novel and a cup of cocoa. Cowboys and Aliens sounded like it could be interesting, with a decent cast (Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig) and Iron Man’s director (Jon Favreau). Sadly, the critics don’t have much time for it, so I don’t think I’ll risk it.
Two other movies this week, Glee and the Inbetweeners are both conversions from TV shows of better than average quality, but again, not for me.
Some good news though, is that Ridley Scott is making a sequel of Bladerunner. Ok, there’s a good chance it’ll be awful, but we live in hope.

No More Workhorse 
I’d be vaguely tempted by Cowboys and Aliens, but yep, the reviews are pretty mediocre. There’s an interview with the always downbeat Harrison Ford in the Irish Times which I thought was kinda funny:

He’s always been something of a disappointment to me, as a kid you’d have thought he was the coolest guy ever, but I think he’s only ever seen it as a job, and no more than that. Sort of kills the romance of Han and Indy, but there we go. I still love ‘Frantic’ though, and if anyone can locate a full length version of the song ‘Poor Dede’, which the band on the canal boat play after Dede Martin gets killed, please attach a link – I love that song.
Harisson is idiot, which is always hard to accept. if you hear an interview with it, it was all about the money! i think cowboys and aliens is one to wait for the dvd.

Yes, I know, I’ve checked out everywhere that I thought I might get it. It was just something they were jamming on the boat, but I really like it – check it out if you watch the film again.
It is sad that he’s an idiot, but there we go. I’m certainly on the dvd trail for cowboys – my rare cinema trips must be saved for better fare than that!
yeah, i think i’ve a few to go to, before i hit cowboys also! It looks fun, but possibly you’d have to leave your brain at home. Still, it’s a popcorn movie, and i’m sure it’s good in that genre.
It’s been about ten years since i’ve seen frantic, so have no memory of that scene. must check it out again next time it’s on tv!
