Fionn’s new album ‘100 Acres of Sycamore’ will be released on August 12th, and he’s playing the Grand Social on July 21st to celebrate it! Quite why bands insist on playing before their new album is release has always been beyond me, but it’s nothing new.

It must be an important album for Fionn, as his second album ‘The Shadow of the Empire’ didn’t get the type of attention it possibly deserved. I guess the success of the Villagers will have an affect on him also, as he’s already been passed out as the bright new hope of Irish Folk music. Still, his talent is there for all to see.  Here’s what he has to say about the new album:

“The Shadow Of An Empire was me looking out of a window at the world. With this one, it’s a clear look in.”

“It’s a tale of mad, wild love – there’s a central, epic love story, that spans time – it’s the story of a couple dancing between the gutter and the chandelier.”
