The Comics Code Authority

A sad day, as the comics code authority has come to any end. Those familiar with Marvel and DC from the 70’s and 80’s will know the symbol on the bottom left of the front page, that meant this comic was fit for nice, normal children, who will function well in society.

Seemingly, it is no longer necessary, as the last publisher has pulled out from it, and it has closed its doors. It started life in 1954, in response to the growing public fear of the depiction of gore, violence and sex in comics (in other words, the good bits). I’m sure it’ll be back, as the world needs people to stand up for moral issues in this world of loose ethics and principles.
