Robert Crummy?

I saw this piece in the Guardian today:  http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/booksblog/2011/jan/12/robert-crumb and thought that it was pretty interesting.

I’ve always had mixed feeling about Crumb, which are pretty close to those of the author – nice drawing style, with some good stuff, but on the whole, he’s pretty one-speed, and difficult to retain an interest in over a full graphic novel. I’ve never quite understood the lionisation either.

As an aside, I’ve never seen my wife hate a film with quite the vehemence she reserves for ‘Crumb’, she was almost shaking with rage at it by the time it was over, which was (for me at least) pretty funny.

  1. I’d have to agree that I’m not a huge fan of his work, basically because he’s a good artist and not a particularly good writer. I like some of his stuff with Harvey Pekar though, the two of them together worked well.

I really liked the movie! Saw it years ago, but thought it was a really good insight into a completely messed up family. Must watch it again, see what i missed out on first time around!
