A certain nameless individual was giving out to me for not having seen any of the movies I review. I’m not sure he gets the point of this, as it’s not a review, it’s a review of reviews! My main is to pick a movie that might be worth going to. I actually never even read reviews, as they give away chunks of the plot, which annoys the hell out of me. Mostly I just look for the stars, to get the reviewers overall opinion of the movie, without reading the rubbish inbetween.
Two new movies seem to be of interest this week, in ‘The King’s Speech’ and ‘127’ both getting 4 stars in most reviews. I really can’t see how the King’s speech could be anything other than dreadful, having seen the trailer several times. It stars Colin Firth as King George VI, the wartime King, who had a speech impediment. This is the story of his speech theraphy. It must have been a difficult sell to the movie execs and producers!
127 hours sounds equally odd, it’s Danny Boyle’s new effort, in the story of a man physically trapped in the mountains with no food or water. It sounds quite similar to buried, in that how can you make a movie about someone trapped in the one position for a long period of time interesting! Who knows, maybe Danny achieved it.
