The Ranelagh arts festival is something worth keeping an eye on. Over the last few years I’ve seen Martin Parr give a talk on his work and Neil Hannon play in a local pub. 

The list of events this year does not dazzle, but there’s the odd thing that might catch your eye. There’s a documentary season in Sandford park (scene of many a good night in my teenage years, thank you L.A.), and also a challenge match between Jimmy White and Ken Doherty! On Wednesday the 29th John Banville is in conversation with Vincent Woods, on his life and work, again in Sandford park.
